The SDS011 Particle Sensor is based on the Laser Scattering principle through which it detects the particle concentration in the surrounding air. The SDS011 Particle Sensor detects the scattered light and translates into digital signals. The digital signals go through the amplification process and then the sensor produces the readings. Nova SDS011 contains a high-quality diode that has a life expectancy of up to 8,000 hours.
